IMT is an factory od tractors, based near Belgrad, Serbia, and the leading manufacturer ofagricultural machinery in the Balkan Peninsula. The factory is founded in 1947 as the Central Foundry. In 1949, a new company, the Metal Institute, is formed by joining the Central Foundry and four more companies from the same area. The Metal Institute becomes the Industry of Machinery and Tractors - IMT, in 1954. Next year, after researching different types of tractors, the Massey Ferguson license is chosen. In 1959, was the reconstruction of the factory, production capacities for 4000 tractors a year are built. The factory started the production of the IMT 555 tractor of their own design in 1964. In, 1988, record annual production results in the history of IMT; 42000 tractors and 35000 machines were produced. In 2000, a new series of tractors is presented, IMT 2000. A long-term cooperation is established with the Perkins company, first engines complaying to the EU 2000/25/EC standards in 2005. In 2012, was premiere presented new series of tractors "S" (IMT-539S, IMT-549S, IMT-550S, IMT-555S).
